When the school year started, my fourth grader said, "Mom, we need a calendar! I never know what is going on after school." I am pretty well organized, and have my google calendar color-coded by family member. But since I won't give my kids their own phones or iPads (mean mom), it doesn't help them much.
So, inspired by some calendars I saw online, I made this one:
It was so easy! I took an inexpensive 8-1/2" x 11" document frame (with glass). I designed a calendar page myself, but there are plenty of free printables on the web. Or, if you like mine, let me know and I'll customize it for you!
Next I placed the calendar page in the frame, decorated the outside of the frame with some colorful washi tape (totally optional, and used adhesive velcro to connect a dry-erase marker to the frame. That way my pen is always handy.
I started with Monday because that's what I consider the beginning of the week as far as school, activities, etc. Each week on Sunday night or Monday morning I use a damp cloth to erase last week, dry, and then fill in the upcoming week's activities. I also include my kids' school library dates so they remember to bring their books back. :)
